Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell is a Washington D.C.-based American TV journalist, anchor, and anchor and. Mitchell graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a master's degree from the department of English literature. In the year 1967, Mitchell was hired as a reporter at KYW Radio and TV in Philadelphia. She was then a reporter for the CBS-affiliate WDVM-TV, (then WTOP), situated in Washington DC. She was hired by NBC News Washington two years after that as an general reporter. From 1981 onwards she began covering the White House. In 1988 she was named chief congressional reporter. She was appointed chief White House correspondent by NBC News, in 1992. Mitchell has appeared as a host and panelist in the TV news show Meet the Press. Mitchell was a panelist at the debates in 1988 with George Bush & Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is married to Alan Greenspan former chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell was awarded the Goldsmith Career Award in 2005 by the John F. Kennedy School of Government to honor her achievements in the field of journalism. In 2004, the Radio-Television News Directors Association gave Mitchell the Leonard Zeidenberg Award in recognition for her work in protecting First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell's first White House coverage was for NBC News, between 1981-1988. This period included the two Ronald Reagan terms in office. Her reporting included a number of significant stories, including the Iran-Contra controversy, tax and budget reforms, as well as the issue of arms control. She traveled extensively with the president Reagan to meet along with Mikhail Gorbachev.
